You’ll want materials that are durable and weather-resistant to your location. Some thoughts to consider when deciding on what suits your job best are:

  • Thickness: How much dimension do you want?
  • What is your client’s budget?
  • Do you experience extreme weather?

Our most commonly used outdoor materials go as followed:

  • Aluminum: This material is our most costly product but has the longest life span. Aluminum is dependable and withstands extreme weather. We offer 1/16” up to 1/2” thick. They can be painted, brushed, or polished.
  • High Density Urethane (HDU): 10lb foam. Finishes include painted or with an aluminum laminate to give that thick, solid metal look.
  • Acrylic: A durable outdoor product with thicknesses ranging from 1/8″ to 1″ thick. Finishes included painted with a semi-gloss look or standard colors to have a glossy finish. Decorative laminates can also be used for outdoor signage and is a more cost-effective option than solid aluminum.
  • 2 lb foam: The most popular is our 2lb foam with an aluminum laminate. It is the most cost-effective product and gives the most dimension. We can go up to 3” thick with our 2 lb foam, but it requests a stucco-coated edge for extra protection, depending where you are located, letters larger than 6″ need a stucco edge- regardless of thickness. Our aluminum laminate can be painted to the color of your choice, or have a decorative finish such as brushed or polished gold and silver, with edges painted to match. 
  •  PVC: PVC is durable and a more cost-effective option than Acrylic. The main difference between the two is that the edges are more coarse. PVC for outdoor use needs to have a painted finish for protection.
